ABOUT US

Dawna Kuhlmey

Owner & Trainer

Dawna Kuhlmey has been riding since age five and spent her early years in the hunter/jumper world. In her early twenties, she discovered the Silk Purse Ranch in Las Vegas and was introduced to dressage. It was there that she met and became assistant trainer to Katie Thompson. Over the next several years, Dawna continued to compete, train and teach. In 1994 she had the incredible opportunity to move to San Diego, California to work for and train with Steffen Peters and Guenter Seidel, two of the nation's leading dressage riders. After taking a short time off in 1996 to have her son Kyle, Dawna returned to her career in dressage at Peg Arnone's Augusta Farms.

One of the highlights of Dawna's dressage career was competing in the 2003 Pan Am Selection Trials on Peg's horse, Magic. Never finishing out of the ribbons, this team had many accomplishments, including winning the 2003 Cornerstone Prix St George Championship. Dawna and Magic continued their partnership through Intermediare II.

Dawna has trained many young horses up through the levels of dressage, including her Grand Prix horse Izzy and achieving her medals on horses she has trained. Dawna is a USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist herself. She has students of all levels and has coached them to many Local, Regional and National Championships.

Pearlie Rohrbacher

Trainer

Pearlie Rohrbacher is a USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist. She has been riding since she was 4 years old. Pearlie has dual citizenship (US and Danish), and she grew up visiting Europe every summer. She rode extensively in Denmark and showed in dressage and jumpers there. Pearlie also rode in Pony Club as a child, where she learned valuable lessons about horse management and correct, balanced riding and earned her C-3 rating. She competed in hunter/jumpers in high school and college. She competed in IEL (Interscholastic Equestrian League) for Polytechnic High School in Pasadena, and she also competed in IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association) for the University of Southern California. She started 3-day eventing in college and has competed up to Preliminary level.

Pearlie works with horses of all breeds and believes dressage can benefit any horse. Her first horse was a 2-year-old Appaloosa gelding named Rubicon. Since then, she has owned and trained a variety of breeds, including off-the-track Thoroughbreds, Arabians, Welsh Cobs, Quarter Horses, Paints, PMUs, and Warmbloods, to name a few!

She has fox hunted and enjoys riding her horses in the open. She believes in cross-training to create happy, well-rounded horses. Although her focus is dressage, her horses regularly ride the trails or go for a jumping session. She continues her riding education by riding with international level riders and trainers in dressage, jumpers & eventing, such as Jimmy Wofford, Jil Walton, Nick Novak, Lars Holmberg, Sean Cunningham, LJ Banks, Charlotte Bredahl, Melissa Creswick and Conrad Schumacher. She apprenticed under Grand Prix dressage rider Kristine White for one year. She is currently showing Intermediaire and schooling Grand Prix. With her extensive experience, she is well qualified to help you learn to ride, train your horse, meet your competition goals or match you with your perfect equine partner.
